THERAPEUTIC RECREATION
RECREATION + THERAPY = BALANCE
Giving Heritage clients opportunities for physical, as well as emotional and social balance, is central to our program. Learning healthy relationship skills in the relaxed group settings of supervised sports and recreation is a launch pad to a successful life beyond self. Our beautiful residential campus offers many facilities for the health of the whole teen. All of our programs are fully licensed and accredited by the proper local, state and national governing bodies.
EQUESTRIAN CENTER
At the Heritage Equestrian Center, horses teach students about trust, positive risk, and caring for other living creatures. Students are guided in basics and safety. Our therapeutic riding program is under the direction of NARHA (North American Riding for the Handicapped Association) certified staff with experience in equine sports, as well as safety. The Equestrian program is now accredited by the Certified Horsemanship Association (CHA) after successful evaluation of its facilities and programs and demonstrating compliance with CHA standards.
ACTIVITY CENTER
The large Activity Center includes a climbing wall, basketball court, racquetball court, and other indoor athletic facilities, as well as a large, modern cafeteria, and spacious recreational therapy and art classrooms.
INDOOR SWIMMING POOL
Our new indoor swimming pool, completed in July 2007, provides year-round opportunities for aquatic activities. Therapeutic Recreation offices and other rooms for recreational activities are located above the pool.
OUTDOOR SPORTS
Our basketball court, low ropes course, and baseball/soccer fields provide seasonal recreation opportunities.
