MENTAL HEALTH
RELATIONSHIPS: THE FOUNDATION OF LIFE SKILLS
Heritage School's treatment model is founded on the crucial life issue of relationships. Adolescents often do not trust, and tend to pull away from, the care of adults. The development or restoration of emotional closeness is our focus.
We teach youth and their families where their unique emotional "land mines" are buried - and how to step around them, not keep stepping on them.
The unique personality and needs of the individual teen, and his or her family, are integrated with the most advanced mental health, academic, social and recreational therapies available. A multidisciplinary Heritage team evaluates each teen's treatment and service needs, both as part of the admission process and on a continuing basis.
SPECIAL TEENS, CUSTOM THERAPIES
With the many adolescent residential treatment centers and troubled teen programs available, how do you choose the right one for your child? And how do you know which one will address your teen's specific behavior issues? Click here to see common troubled teen problems and which behaviors your child may be exhibiting.
You also want the confidence that the treatment program you select has a proven success. The Heritage School's relationship treatment model has a high success rate. Our success lies not only in the number of young people graduating from our programs, but in how many of these graduates lead healthy, happy and fulfilling lives today.
All of our programs are fully licensed and accredited by the proper local, state and national governing bodies.
We invite you to talk with us about the unique needs of your child and family, and the wonderful opportunity for healing and life success Heritage offers.
A PATH TO SELF-DISCOVERY
The goal of Heritage School's adolescent treatment program is simple-to facilitate real change in your at-risk teen, now and for life. That takes patience, compassion, discipline and understanding. Your teen will explore a path of self-discovery and introspection that will enable him or her to understand and deal with the triggers and consequences of their behavior.

Dual Diagnosis - Heritage treats teens that have combined emotional, behavioral or academic and substance abuse problems. We engage your teen in the recovery process along with psychiatric treatment and specialized activities such as psycho educational groups, process groups, and 12-step groups (A.A., N.A., A.C.A., Ala-Teen), both on and off-campus.
INDIVIDUAL, GROUP. AND SPECIALTY THERAPIES
We offer individual, group, family, and milieu therapies as well as therapeutic recreation. A variety of specialty groups, including communication, self-esteem and substance abuse, are also offered. Heritage also offers specialty groups dealing with adoption, eating disorders, attention deficit, sexual abuse, parent/child conflict, and more.
INTENSIVE SUPPORT SERVICES
On-campus intensive support is provided to clients with a temporary need for more structure and supervision. Intensive support involves daily dispositional planning and behavior objectives designed to stabilize and redirect a client who is at risk to self or others. These services are provided in a safe area with a staff-to-client ratio higher than the normal program.
SPIRITUALITY At Heritage, we respect and care for the whole teen, recognizing that it takes a miracle of the heart - a conversion from the inside out - to heal grief, pain, and violation. Spiritual growth is an important part of the Heritage experience. Our interfaith Spirituality Program involves your teen and a staff mentor. Participation in this program is totally voluntary with parental/guardian permission required. Our Chaplain conducts interfaith services and has open and active partnerships with the leaders of local faiths who also conduct services for teens who wish to attend. We also invite students to visit our beautiful interfaith worship center simply for a quiet moment, under appropriate individual guidelines.
