Heritage works to build and establish positive and healthy relationships with the entire family. Parent engagement is a key component for success. At-risk teens and adolescents recover faster and are inspired more to progress with sufficient parent engagement and support. When a teen is facing turbulent times, nothing gets them back on the right track faster than seeing their parents eager to support them.
We have expanded parent involvement in their child’s progress through regular communications, increased parental participation and engagement of parents as part of a multi-disciplinary treatment team.
Therapy, Academic and Residential advisors work with the student and the parents to assess the child’s interest, strengths and development goals. They review progress and work as a team to reach the student’s goals.
Heritage champions parent engagement and incorporates it into the concept of the community dynamics. Parents and families are expected to attend conferences held at least two times per year, engage in weekly family therapy, weekly personal phone calls with the student and complete assignments discussed in family therapy.
Having the consistent, unified support of all involved throughout the process helps adolescents know that he or she is not alone. Knowing that everyone cares gives them the drive to continue in their journey toward healthy behavior.
Parents are encouraged to seek additional help when necessary to improve family dynamics and prepare for the transition when their son or daughter will return home.
